Grandma a Hero -- she is to most Grandkids!
She tries to keep up with the Grandkids, she has lots of interests, and is GREAT! Boy isn't that egotistical! I try. I will say that. Every Grandma tries to be the hero for her Grandkids. At least I do. I may not be a hero for long - I'm not stupid when they start growing up they will find real heroes. Being a hero isn't always easy. You need to set limits and help them learn the rules to be good little gentlemen and ladies. But Grandma is the one who gives unconditional love and maybe bends the rules just a bit.

Paper airplanes can be made from simple to fancy. It doesn't take much energy to 'build' them and they can last for many flights. Buildiing and 'flying' paper airplanes can be a cheap, simple activity when you are in a spot with out many supplies, toy or gadgets to amuze the kids.
Grandma can be a hero to the Grandkids
The wisdom of time is not what they see
When children have the priviledge of knowing their grandparents those Grandparents can get to be heroes. When they hear stories of what Grandma or Grandpa has done it sounds so amazing. Those same things don't mean as much if done by a stranger or neighbor. There is a magical power associated with Grandparents. The fact that they are a back up system for parents is good. They can go to Grandma or Grandpa to discuss things they wouldn't talk to Mom or Dad about. They can share needs or concerns. In this day of so many split families it is good they can have this close relationship. The children need someone they can go to. Sort of leaves the need open for older neighbors or friends to step into the substitute Grandparent position. Check out some of my other places!
